Duke of Edinburgh Award

To inspire, guide and support young people in their self-development and recognise their achievements.

Completing the DofE will be a life-changing adventure for your child. On the way, they will do their own exciting and challenging programme of activities to help them reach their full potential. They’ll learn new skills, help others, have fun, make new friends and gain a great sense of achievement. Employers, colleges and universities really value the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and know what it says about someone who is an Award holder.

The DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. Students need to be aged between 14 and 24 and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass them by.

We are able to offer your son/daughter the Bronze level of the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The Bronze Award is achieved by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections. They’ll find themselves helping people or the community (Volunteering), getting fitter (Physical), developing skills (Skills) and taking part in an expedition.

How to Apply >

We introduce the Duke of Edinburgh Award to students towards the end of Year 9.  The students will have a presentation during one of their assemblies where we show a short film telling them what the award is all about.

We ask the students who are interested to meet with us one lunch time where they have chance to ask any questions and are able to collect a letter explaining the award and an application form.  We also ask them to provide a covering note to us giving their reason for wanting to do the award (a mini application letter).  We give the students a closing date for the handing in of their applications. If we receive more applications than available places, we will use their mini application letter as a means of selection.

We hope to let all students who are selected know within a week of the closing date.

We have a strong team of enthusiastic fully qualified Bronze level leaders which enables us to take approximately 40 students per year.
