Message from Barton Peveril - Year 11

Writer's picture: Crofton SchoolCrofton School

During these uncertain times, I wanted to take a moment to reassure you of some of the actions that Barton Peveril Sixth Form College are taking in order to support both your current Year 11 students and your alumni.

Our staff have been working hard to compile a list of recommended reading, activities and other useful resources for each of our subjects, which has been shared with Year 11 offer holders within this correspondence. This comprehensive document will give your Year 11 students an insight into the breadth and depth of study at Barton Peveril and encourage them to begin the transition from secondary school to college education.

You can view the recommended subject activities and materials here.

Google Classroom for Year 11 Students

In the coming weeks, your Year 11 students who hold offers to study with us will be issued a Google login in the form of a Barton Peveril email account. This account will allow your students to access an online portal containing Google Classrooms for each of the subjects they have applied to study; students will also be able to add themselves to the Google Classrooms of other subjects which interest them. This will give students the opportunity to engage with mini lessons and interact with teachers and current students, allowing them to explore everything on offer at Barton Peveril.

Year 12 Students

I am delighted to announce that your alumni, our current students, have continued to attend their timetabled lessons remotely during these unprecedented times. Our teachers have made every effort to ensure that they are available for their students during their lessons, giving our students a ‘live’ learning experience with their teacher and classmates wherever possible. Students have also been able to access support from the College Counsellor, Nurse, Student Progress Advisers and the Careers Department. The overwhelming feedback from our students is that they appreciate the continued structure of their college days and I invite you to read more about both our technological and student successes here

I hope that the above information has reaffirmed that we as a college have kept both your current students and your alumni at the forefront of our actions during the closure of the country’s educational institutions, and are assured that will continue to do so until we can return to physical teaching, whenever that may be!

With best wishes,

Jonathan Prest

Principal
