Skoolkit - Shop Re-Opening & Uniform Vouchers

Writer's picture: Crofton SchoolCrofton School

We are still encouraging parents to purchase uniform online for this year ‘back to school’ as much as possible. We have created an additional online free delivery code for a whole month - 27th JUNE – 26th JULY – SUMMER2020. This code does overlap slightly with a code already created on our price lists but this isn’t a problem. We hope this additional code helps parents in light of no discount events being run this year...

Dear School,

We hope that you staff and students are well and staying as safe as possible during these uncertain times. Together, we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global coronavirus pandemic is affecting all of our families, businesses, communities, and our way of life. As such we at Skoolkit wanted to reach out and update you on how we are working hard behind the scenes to try and make sure that we can deliver a successful ‘back to school’ this summer for your school, pupils and parents. We are aware that the coming weeks and months will continue to be far from ‘normal’ meaning that we as a company need to put in place certain measures to operate safely to ensure that the safety and wellbeing of staff, parents and children is paramount. As such we are asking for your support to let your parents know how we will bring this about.

Monday June 1 is the provisional date given by the Government for schools to begin phasing in the return of some year groups and it is also the suggested date for non-essential retailers like Skoolkit to reopen. We are currently preparing for this and are looking forward to welcoming customers back into our shops on this date, however the opening time may be slightly later than usual due to necessary staff training. Also, as two of our shops are in shopping centres, we will have to follow their re-opening instructions. The summer months are always our busiest time of year, and this year is going to be particularly challenging and we would be very grateful if you can pass information to your parents for us to help us make it run as smoothly as possible. As you know our shops are always extremely busy every summer, and it would help us immensely if you could encourage parents to shop as early as possible this year as it will take us longer to give each customer the attention that they will need. This year more than other years we have a social responsibility to try not to attract large numbers to our shops as we will need to maintain social distancing measures, so where possible we would like you to encourage customers to buy from our website – www.skoolkit.co.uk.  For parents that do need to visit our shops then we would prefer it if there is only one adult family member present with their children and whilst our staff are very experienced in fitting uniform it would be helpful for them if parents have an idea of what they want to purchase and the sizes required. We would also ask that customers are patient and understanding with our staff at this difficult time.

We appreciate that there will be queues for uniform but we will aim to move customers through as quickly and safely as possible and we will be observing all Government guidelines including:

  1. Providing staff with PPE as advised

  2. Providing hand sanitiser in-store for use by staff and customers

  3. Installing cough/sneeze guards to provide a barrier protecting both customers and staff and lowering the risk of contamination from coughing and sneezing.

  4. Observing 2 metre social distancing rule where possible by using a one-way flow system through stores with floor markings and signage.

  5. Limiting the number of people who can be inside a shop at any given time.

  6. Limiting the use of fitting rooms so that they are only used where necessary

  7.  limiting customers’ handling of uniform to reduce the likelihood of transmitting the virus

  8. Encouraging the use of card payment so handling cash will be kept to a minimum.

  9. Maximum use of outside space for queuing

  10. Looking at extending store opening hours where permitted.

These measures will remain in place until we are advised by the Government that it is OK to either relax or withdraw them.

Many schools have been asking about our usual “discount week” and sale events – regrettably this has been suspended for this year, however we will still be offering the free delivery promotions for uniforms purchased on-line on specific dates as follows:

26TH – 28TH JUNE 2020 – CODE: JUNEDEL20

27TH JUNE – 26TH JULY – SUMMER2020 (ADDITIONAL CODE NOT ON PRICELIST)

29TH – 31ST JULY 2020 – CODE: JULYDEL20

5TH – 7TH AUGUST 2020 – CODE: AUGDEL20

All on-line orders will need to be placed by Friday August 14th at the latest to guarantee delivery for a September return to school.

Unfortunately for this years’ back-to-school all Uniform Vouchers that have been purchased can only be used in-store. We have approached our new website developers to incorporate this facility into our on-line ordering but it doesn’t look like being in-place for this years’ ‘back-to-school’. Please accept our apologies for this.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this rather long email and for your continued support and we would like to reassure you that Skoolkit remains focussed on doing all that it can to ensure that the ‘back-to-school’ period will be delivered as safely and effectively as possible. As we go forward, we’ll be sure to keep you updated, and please know that we always value your questions, ideas and feedback.

Kind regards, Skoolkit
