Year 10 Geography Field Trip

Dear Parent/Carer,

To support your son/daughter’s GCSE Geography studies the Geography department will be completing local fieldwork on either Wednesday 9 June or Thursday 10 June.

On the day pupils will be required to leave site as part of a class group to collect local data based on the Stubbington Bypass project. This visit will be during school time, and will not impact on break or lunch, so no catering requirements are necessary. Students have been notified of their times. These are also on Satchel:One and displayed in the Geography department.

This trip has particular importance for the final exams in Year 11, pupils will be asked to answer questions about the field trips they attended. Pupils could be asked a range of questions, about the data they collected, the methods of data collection and the reliability of the data they gathered. Pupils will be trialling human data collection methods in the field and will use the data in lessons to develop a detailed understanding of the importance of the bypass project.

As this trip is a requirement for the exam it is important that all pupils attend, please contact me if there are any problems with the selected date and time for your son/daughter’s fieldwork. Please see a consent form attached, which needs to be completed and returned to the Geography department on or before the day of the visit.

Kind Regards

Mrs L Webber

Subject Leader for Geography
